Episode 3-7: "Not in Portland"

Juliet:

I found the idea that Juliet was also captive on the island a complete surprise. Though she had mentioned that Ben was a bad guy, given her apparent freedom to go where she pleased, accessibility to weapons and authority with the Others, I had no inkling that she was in a similar situation to Jack (if she is speaking the truth).
Very interesting how different Juliet was as a person in her flashback than on the island. She was much more timid and insecure. But even then, given her work being somewhat immoral, she clearly had something more inside of her than she showed.
Julet's husband was named Edmund Burke, another philosopher.
The woman who played Juliet's sister Rachel is Robin Weigert who played Calamity Jane in "Deadwood" on HBO.
The pregnancy test that Juliet's sister used was a Widmore pregnancy test like the one Sun took from the plane.
When Juliet opened the curtain in her sister's hospital room to look over Miami, the plane that was landing was an Oceanic plane.
The company that was recruiting Juliet to work for them was called Mittelos, which is an anagram for Lost Time.
There was an ad on the bus that killed Juliet's ex-husband for Apollo candy bars, which is the candy that was in the Swan Hatch.

Island stuff

Lots of subtle mentions of time in this episode (see the anagram above for example). More examples are below. Perhaps this is the show's way of telling us that is the secret to the island.
Since Ben came around during his surgery, did Jack miscalculate the amount of anesthesia or is Ben affected by the island in some way that throws off his body? There had been speculation that Ethan had more strength than the average man should have.
Tom (formerly known as Zeke or the bearded man) said to Jack, "Ben and Juliet have history." What kind of history? A sexual or business relationship? Perhaps Ben was one of Juliet's test subjects in the past with her fertility studies.
Over radio, the other said Austen (Kate) and Ford (James 'Sawyer'). Some people thought those were code names for Sawyer and Kate, but in fact, those are their last names.
Tom said tonight, they grabbed Jack to do the surgery, rather than getting Ben to a mainland hospital of sorts (or something) because of something that happened as a result of the hatch blowing.

Room 23

Who is Karl? First thought he may be a plant to screw with Sawyer when he was first captured, but then we saw Alex looking for him all over this "Alcatraz" island. Is he an Other, and if so, what did he do to get tortured by his own people? or perhaps he is part of the other group of Others that may people believe are on the island...
The guard whose knee Kate threatened to shoot was played by Rob McElhenney who plays Mac on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" on FX.

He was reading the Stephen Hawkin book History of Time, Chapter 7 "Black Holes Ain't so Black" which discusses the possibility that Black Holes may bend time.

High chance that Walt had also been in Room 23 (or a similar room). In an episode last season, That Walt said he was fearful about going back in "that room" when Miss Klugh chided Walt.
When Alex, Sawyer and Kate went into room 23, only Sawyer got hypnotized by the screen. Why was that? Did something happen to Sawyer in the past, or maybe on the "Alcatraz" island that made him react that way?
Room 23 is getting compared to the movie A Clockwork Orange, where, apparently, evil violent people were tortured in a very similar way, to make them good. While we haven't seen Karl be violent, perhaps the Others see him as Evil (as they have stated they are Good) and are trying to turn him Good.

General LOST stuff:

So Jacob is apparently the leader of the Others, or at least Ben's superior. In the bible, Benjamin was Jacob's son from Rachel, Jacob's favorite wife. Juliet's sister was Rachel, and Juliet got her pregnant through her experiments, etc. Perhaps there is some symbolism between this all...think about it.
In the most recent ABC podcast for Lost, Damon Lindeloff and Carlson Cuse say that there is an Easter egg in the Room 23 video relating to the Adam & Eve skeletons that Locke found in the cave.

SPOILERS:

Episode 8: "Flashes Before Your Eyes" -Desmond-centric: A suspicious and determined Hurley enlists Charlie to help him wrangle the truth out of Desmond, who has been acting strangely ever since the implosion of the hatch.
Widmore pops up in this episode.
Desmond may pass Charlie on the street singing for money in the flashback.
Desmond tells a central character that they will die.
Down the road, going to get back to Claire and importance of her baby.
Also, Sun is going to figure out what Charlie did to her (kidnapping and starting that fire) which will cause tension between both Sun and Charlie, and Claire and Sun.
From Entertainment Weekly, February 16th issue:

Flashbacks for the remainder of this season include Claire, Hurley, Sayid, Jack (and his freaking tats) and Locke (and finally how he got into the wheelchair).
Losties find out that the Others have a submarine.
In episode 9 (February 21st), Cindy the stewardess and those kidnapped kids, all from the Tailes section of the plane, show up.
The Dharma and Others connection may be revealed in episode 11, on March 7th.
Throughout the rest of the season, repercussions of Ben's spinal surgery will play out.
Though everyone hates the new characters, Nikki and Paulo, the plan is to make them have important roles.
Something may happen between Jack and Juliet.

Episode 3-6: "I Do"

There was not too much to talk about with this Kate-centric episode. I felt that we didn’t really learn much more about Kate than we didn’t know before. There a few things to think to about from that episode. I also added some general LOST stuff out there on the web. And as always, I finish off with spoilers for both the next episode and the remainder of Season 3.

Kevin, Kate's finance's name, is the same name as Sarah's finance (Jack's ex) who ran off when she got paralyzed.
Is Karl dead, the kid who tried to help Sawyer escape from the cages at the beginning of Season 3? Is he an Other? if so, do the Others then kill their own?
When Pickett and the other Other left the viewing room, Pickett was bitching about how Ben was letting Jack operate on him. Who is Jacob? Did Henry step out of protocol to save his own butt when he saw that Jack was a doctor? If Jack was not on the list, how did Juliet have all that paperwork on him? Is Jack then dispensable? Is this who Ben mentioned and was so scared of when he was taken by the Losties?
Is Ben Alex's dad? Probably not birth dad since Rousseou "gave" Ben to Sayid but didn't seem to know him, just knew he was an Other. Maybe he adopted Alex once the Others took her from Rousseou.
We still don't know what happened to Kate when she was brought to Ben when they first got captured and brought to this new island. Maybe Kate got REALLY roughed up or something, because she seems to be acting weird, not as aggressive and in control as she used to be. Maybe something similar to the pacemaker trick they did to Sawyer.

Episode 3-5: "Cost of Living"

Eko stuff:

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje who played Eko had only committed to a year contract with LOST, he didn't want to be on the show long term. So the producers had planned on him not lasting too long. But Michelle Rodriguez had also only committed to one year. So when they killed her off, they wanted to space out Eko's death so they were not too close nor connected.
Eko's Flashback:

Did Eko buy the vaccine to sell and make money (he was leaving for London) or to get the bad guys back so he could kill them?
This backstory did not connect Eko to anyone else on the island that we can tell. Why have him survive the hatch implosion just to kill him off a few episodes later?

His death was different from other deaths:

Not done by a human or accident, but by black smoke
Boone and Shannon had found redemption in a way, became a different and better person than they were off island. Eko refused redemption.

When Eko was brought back to the beach by Locke and Charlie, it was interesting to see how the Losties were behaving/reacting to having no doctor since Jack is captured. All they did was stick Eko in a tent, put the flaps down and hope he healed himself.
Yemi (Eko's brother)'s body was gone from the plane, very similarly to Jack's dad's body not being where it should be in the "White Rabbit" episode of Season 1. Were the bodies ever there? Boone saw Yemi's body and the heroin from the paln was there. And why did the plane end up there anyway?

Locke:

Locke is now running things at the beach with the Losties. He seems to be running things more like a commune, saying that everyone can come along when he was going to the Pearl Station

Was it just a good way to get the new characters, Paolo and what's her name, into the show or was it new leadership?
Jack's leadership method was more about surviving the island while Locke's is more about understanding the island.
Perhaps Jack knew it was good to keep some things from people so they don't panic.
Sayid seems to be a little annoyed by Locke's style of leading. Maybe this will be a bigger issue down the road.

Jack:

Funeral: Benry made Jack attend the funeral, which was a very Asian custom oriented funeral (wearing white gowns, not black). Perhaps this is a connection to old DHARMA ways?
Was Jack invited because he had tried to save Collen, or did Ben want to show him a more human side to the Others?
Unclear how often these funerals happen to the Others. Juliet said in this episode that she "hates funerals" but in a previous episode, she had said that she is "not used to death."
Interaction between Jack and Juliet with the video:

If Juliet is telling the truth about wanting Ben dead, wonder if she wants to step into role as leader.
In the relationship between Ben and Juliet, it seems to run parallel to the Jack/Locke relationship. Ben = Jack while Juliet = Locke.

Ben/Jack- Dictatorial, people follow out of respect of authority
Juliet/Locke-more emotional, involved with the people.

Don't forget that when Juliet held that gun to Kate's head, Sawyer believed she would have shot Kate. She has something inside her that perhaps actually makes her bad, and maybe then Ben is actually good.

Black Smoke:

This episode confirms that when people on the island see people from their past, it is actually the Black Smoke.
Eko chasing Yemi through the woods was very similar to Jack chasing his fathre through the woods in "White Rabbit" in season 1. Both followed a "person" to where their body should have been but wasn't.
It is quite clear now that what the Black Smoke is, it has an agenda.
Danyelle had mentioned it in the past as the monster, so she must have seen it, and one would imagine the Others have seen it too.
Is it a tool of something else? is someone controlling it somewhere?
It was very interesting that Locke thought it was beautiful while Eko definitley did not.
The Black Smoke would not have killed Eko, it seems, if he had asked to be redeemed. The other time Eko looked at the Smoke face to face and when Locke looked at it too, they both had faith in something big (the island, religion)
When in the form of Yemi, the Black Smoke said to Eko "You speak to me as if I am your brother." Maybe the Black Smoke doesnt even know what form it takes. It appears to be "an incarnation of a monster' or a "manifistation from Eko's memory." The first time Eko met the Smoke, there were flashes of memories the Smoke pulled from Eko's brain. Perhaps it did that so it would be able to manifest itself based on those memories.

Patch Guy:

Seemed as though Sayid was more surprised than other to see the Patch guy in the monitor. Perhaps he recognized him, maybe from his days with the US Army?
Remember that in the hatch the Tailes had found, there was a glass eye...and an Army knife. Could be a connection there.

Random:

Last line of this episode was "We're next." which is what Eko said to Locke before he died (at least, what Locke said Eko said.). Does this mean that the Black Smoke will be judging everyone, and their lives depend on what its judgement?
Confirmation from the executive producers: the polar bears on the Hydra station escaped during the collapse of DHARMA.

Next episode: "I Do"-Kate-centric.
Official ABC synapsis Jack makes decision regarding Ben's offer. Kate feels helpless when it looks like an angry Pickett is going to make good on his threat to kill Sawyer. Locke discovers a hidden message that may guide him through his next steps in journey to unlocking the secrets of the island.
Nathan Fillion from the tv series "Firefly" will be playing Kate's husband.
We will find out more about Karl (the boy in the cage with Sawyer in the first episode of season 3, who tried to help Sawyer escape) in this episode. We'll find out why he is there and why he tried to escape.
When the show returns in February, it will be a Juliet flashback.
Right now, it appears as though Bernard is the only Tailie left alive. But around episode 8 of this season, we will be seeing Cindy (stewardess) and the 2 kids taken from the Tailies in "The Other 48 hours"

Episode 3-4: "Every Man for Himself"

Desmond used "psychic ability" to help Claire:

Since he saved Claire from the lightening, does that change the future somehow (think Back to the Future)
Is Desmond now seeing the future? and is he using it to help people?
Perhaps rather than a flashback from Desmond, we'll get a flash forward.

Sawyer:

this episode set up what he was willing to do and willing to compromise to save himself.
Yet he gives the money he received to his daughter, perhaps that was a con too?
He said to put the money in a bank in Albuquerque, which is where the bank was that Kate robbed.
In some episode, Sawyer made a reference to Florida, so now you have Kate and Sawyer connected peripherally in Iowa, Florida and New Mexico.
After this flashback, seeing how Sawyer was in jail and what he did to get out, perhaps there is a chance that the Others can turn him. Before this episode, thought he'd be the last one to turn.

Implications of Hydra station on separate island:

not an easy escape-the cages aren't really cages (how easily Kate got out of it), the island itself is the cage.

Implications of Colleen's death:

it was interesting to see how quickly Jack was to help an "Other"

we will be finding out whose X-rays those are up there.

Colleen's husband (Pickard) may be very eager to take vengeance.

Jack and Juliet had a conversation about power, where Juliet was saying that she does not have to listen to Ben. This conversation mirrored the conversation between Benry and Locke, when Benry was locked up in the Swan Hatch. It was regarding Jack and Locke. Both conversations had the line "It doesn't work that way. We make decisions together."
X-rays:

they belonged to a man in his 40's with a tumor. Benry? Sawyer? Locke's (his license said his DOB was 5/30/56 and remember LOST is occurring in 2004, plus you don't know how old those x-rays are)?
Perhaps they belong to an Other we haven't met yet. Maybe Benry is not the leader, but tumor man is. While in captivity, Benry did say "Our leader is a great man." Was he talking about himself or someone else?

Island:

How do the Losties not see the island. Even if they are on other side of the big island, they have climbed mountains.
But perhaps this little island explains why Benry was so freaked out when he learned about Desmond's boat.
Other village is on the big island with the Losties. Ben told Ethan he could get to the Losties in 2 hours by foot.
Apparently, the polar bears swam from little island to big island since those cages that Sawyer and Kate are in had originally held them.

Easter Eggs in episode:

Dialogue of the Others: "Two days ago the sky went purple and the coms are down"

initially it seemed as though they were not surprised by the light in the sky when the hatch imploded, but perhaps they were.
What are these coms to?

to the outside world, not to each other?
to other groups of Others?
2 way or just 1 way (for listening only or communicating?)
So far, we know that Ben and the Others can see what is happening around the Hydra Station. Can they see other hatches, like the Pearl Station can?

There were 2 voices. Here is the dialogue:

1. Speaker 1: (Everything's) under control (.5 sec)
2. Speaker 2:yeah? (2.35 sec)
3. Speaker 2: You know what he's doing to Colleen? (3.09 sec, note Closed Caption had "Karl" instead of Colleen)
4. Anyone hear what the comm/con is saying (4.19 sec)
5. Speaker 1: the man knows what he's doing (5 sec)
6. Speaker 2 it was a mistake bringing those two here (7 sec)

Which 2 are they talking about? Sawyer and Kate? If the intercom said Karl, was it the Karl that Alex had talked to Kate about (the kid that helped Sawyer try to escape from the cages)?

The Sub:

The Others said to Ben, "The sub is back"

Do they have a submarine? This could explain how Ethan struck from the water and how they "snuck" up on Sun on the boat (though Sayid's plan SUCKED anyway)

Now that we know more about the Others, there is some analysis of it going on.
On the mural, there are houses, which may represent the Others' village(s). There is a sailboat, perhaps Desmond's, and a submarine in the far right corner.

The overall layout is divided horizontally by waves, perhaps symbolizing the Losties' mainland (big island) on the top and the Others on the bottom.
There are 3 houses, perhaps representing 3 different Other villages?

Perhaps the bigger question: who painted it? someone who actually knew the layout of the island, or maybe someone who survived the first "incident" and had the ability to foresee the future like Desmond seems to now.

Spoilers:

Next Episode: "Cost of Living"-Eko's flashback.

Synopsis: Eko wrestles with demons from his past while Locke and some other Lostaways head back to Pearl Station in the hope of finding a computer to help them locate their friends. Jack doesn't’t know who to trust when two of the Others seem at odds with each other.
See a guy with a patch, shown on a monitor in what appears to be the Pearl eStation. Maybe it was his eye the Tailies found in the hatch they had been hanging out in before they left to find the Losties.
A major character, regular actor, but not Sawyer, dies in this episode.
There will be a love triangle between Charlie, Claire and someone else this season.

Episode 3-2: "Further Instructions"

This episode was actually supposed to go before “The Glass Ballerina” but for some unknown reason, didn’t.
This episode’s opening was, shot for shot, the same as the opening in the pilot, but Locke instead of Jack (for example, this one opened on Locke’s eye, but it was Jack’s in the pilot. While Locke sees Desmond in the brush, Jack had seen Vincent.)

Perhaps Locke = new Jack and will take over as the leader of the Losties while Jack will be “turned” by Ben and the Others.

Believe the flashback was more about the community he found than the fact that he got duped, again.

See him looking for family again (oh the father issues on this show).

Do see how he got his hunting skills and knowledge of Peyote paste.

Timeline: believe this takes place after the last flashback

Also could be looked at as parallel between Locke’s commune family and the Others.

THEORY: Joining the Others may make sense to Locke, having joined a commune before. Also may be a test for himself to see if he can do it without becoming a dupe or mark again.

Or, if Locke is the new Jack, then Jack will get duped, not Locke. Maybe the stuff that happened in and about the hatch has brought back Locke’s faith

Possible that the head of the commune was the lead singer or head of the band, Geronimo Jackson. This band was mentioned by Eddie, the undercover cop, AND was an album in the hatch that Hurley and Charlie found.

Perhaps that commune that Locke was part of was growing and selling the marijuana to fund DHARMA.
In the drug dream with Boone, Ben/Hurley/Desmond all worked for the airline. Jack was being investigated by Benry, Sawyer and Kate were together, while Sayid was in charge of Sun and Jin. Hurley was on his way to do the work Ben asked of him…is Desmond working for the Others too?

In the bear cave, the skeleton on the ground was wearing clothing with the Pearl Station logo on it.

After Locke rescued Eko, there is the belief that when Eko then spoke to Locke, it was really the island speaking through Eko, and Eko was really unconscious.
Desmond may or may not have the ability to predict the future now.

Perhaps he cannot predict the future, but rather after, the hatch implosion, Locke, Eko and Desmond actually got sent to the future for a day. All episode people kept asking Locke where he was for a day.

If they went into the future, then possibly Desmond heard Locke’s speech then. Desmond did not say to Hurley, “I see that Locke is going to save Jack, Sawyer and Kate.” He actually said “Don’t worry. Locke is going to go after them. He said so in his speech.” This sounds like Desmond already heard the speech, even though Locke had not yet said it.

OR Locke, Desmond and Eko may all be connected or linked on some psychic plane since they were all in the hatch together when it imploded.

OR Desmond may be a figment of Hurley’s imagination. Hurley was the only one who talked to him during the whole episode. Desmond did not join the group for Locke’s speech, though it appeared as though he was within ear shot.

There are 3 tunnels left leading out of where the hatch had been. Perhaps the implosion opened the wall that was sealed in the hatch that Sayid and Jack had found. 2 new characters were introduced: Nikki and Paulo

Originally were supposed to be introduced in a scene where they are caught having sex in Jack’s tent by Claire. But this scene was cut.

Be prepared to see more of them.

Hurley did not mention what happened to Michael (or Walt) nor did anyone ask. Though frustrating, it is consistent with the communication issues we’ve seen in the prior 2 seasons.

Sawyer-centric

May also have a Desmond flashback, but they have never done 2 different character flashbacks (not including Sun/Jin and Michael/Walt) in the same episode.

Episode Synopsis: Sawyer discovers just how far his captors will go to thwart his and Kate’s escape plans. Jack must scrub up to save an Other’s life. Desmond’s behavior perplexes the survivors when he starts constructing an unknown device.

Sawyer will have a bad day. And Kate will clueless as to why.

Jack will start to play Juliet.

Nikki (new character) will talk with Desmond.

Theme of show: are you a killer?

Jin is not a killer (couldn't kill Baldy)
Juliet is a killer (at least Sawyer thinks so)
Sun is a killer (Colleen taunted Sun that she could not really shoot her)

Lots of speculation that Sun's baby's father is Jae, not Jin, though I can't get the timeline to work in mind on this.
We learn that there is a dark side to Sun. She sacrificed her maid when she broke the ballerina. She sacrificed Jae when she cheated (and got caught) having an affair with him.
Did Jae jump from the window or was he killed by someone other than Jin?
When Jin says something like, I know you have betrayed me, to Sun on the beach when she finally tells him they are building a trap for the Others, does he simply mean the betrayal at the moment, or when she didn't tell him she spoke English, or does he really knwo about her affair?
Ben Linus says "you never made me any pie" to Juliet. Did they have a past relationship, or perhaps he was held in their cages at some point (could be what she meant when she said, in last episode, "It's not who we were, it's who we are now"

Though when Colleen came in and said "am I interrupting anything", there was some clear tension going on, which implies that Ben and Juliet had some relationship at some point.

Jack laughs at the Red Sox winning the World Series and takes the news about Bush with a straight face? What kind of a crazy world is that?

Jack's dad used to say, "And that's why the Sox won't win series." Jack said it once or twice, and Sawyer said it once too - he also got it from Jack's dad, when they were in the Australian bar.

It was interesting that Benry was shocked by the sailboat, which would indicate he doesn't know about Desmond, which may mean the Others are not Dharma or it could mean that the Others do not know about the Pearl hatch, or have the ability to see inside the Swan hatch.
Is Ben the leader, or the middleman? perhaps the leader on the island, but reports to someone off the island?
Juliet, perhaps she has psychic abilities, since she was able to break Jack down.
Remember, Sawyer was not privy to the info that the Pearl station had monitors to watch the Swan station, so he does not know they have cameras. Or he may be playing them, knowing the cameras are there.
When Colleen is getting a group together to go get Desmond's boat, Colleen says (whispers but people closed captioned it) to Danny, "We gotta go get the boat. It's 10 minutes from where the Galaga can retrieve it and bring it back for..."

Theories:

Galaga is how Others got onto the sailboat undetected.
Is it a boat, or a submarine?
Is it a water or air-based vehicle?
Secret route to Pallea Ferry dock (some speculate there is a secret underground tunnel system under the island).

Kate has not been same since put in the cage. Perhaps she struck a deal with Ben (like Ben offered Jack), between breakfast and being put in the cage. She is not usually as submissive as she has been acting. Maybe she is still drugged.
If Others have TV, maybe satellite, then could get info on Losties if a show ever did an expose on the missing people from Oceanic 815.

Perhaps connected to Ben saying he was born on the island. Perhaps he was adopted, or a test tube baby...

Greek mythology: Linos

Son of Apollo and Psamathe, whose father was the King of Argos. She feared her father and gave the infant Linus to shepherds to raise. He was torn apart by dogs after reaching adulthood and Psamathe was killed by her father, for which Apollo sent a child-killing plague to Argos.
Fits in with the crappy father issues all over LOST.

Maybe Ben did grow up on the island and when Dharma came in the 70s (he would have been a teen), perhaps DHARMA captured him and tested on him or something like that.

What does Benry want from Jack?

His medical skills?
To bring Jack, Sawyer and Kate into the Others society? Turn these leaders and the rest may follow?

Theories:

Island is own sovereign state.
There is a secret on the island (maybe the island itself) and one group of Others is there to protect the secret while the other faction is trying to make it public.
Sun, Jin and Sayid will stumble upon something important or new on their trek back to camp (perhaps that 4 toed statue)
Others grew up on the island, perhaps children of DHARMA scientists or test tube babies, and then were abandoned, except for the DHARMA food drops. Perhaps they have special abilities (Ethan seemed to have great strength, Juliet may be psychic).
Dark Territory on the island where Rousseau lives may be the only section of the island not monitored by cameras. May be why she has chosen to live there.
Perhaps Benry worked in the Pearl Station at some point. That could be why he had told Locke to stop worrying about pushing the button; he knew the Swan station was just something to be observed.

Back to Losties camp, where we know that Desmond (albeit naked) and Locke did survive the hatch explosion.
Locke is going to rescue someone (either Jack, Sawyer and Kate, or Eko, wherever he may be)

Karl, the kid in the cage near Sawyer who tried to help him escape, really is an Other. His attempt to escape, and his apology to Sawyer, was real. We will find out more about him by the end of the 6th episode.
There will be a flashback by an Other, but not for a while (perhaps even next season).
The Others are in other locations around the island, but are all part of the same group (maybe Ben's group is the good group, while the other faction(s) are what Ben considers evil. Ben's group may not have been the ones that killed the Tailes and took those kids in that Taily flashback episode.)

Episode 3-1: "A Tale of Two Cities"

First season was about the Losties, second season started about the Tailes, and maybe this season is about the Others.
The two citites in the title are (perhaps obviously) the Others' village and the Losties camp.
The Stephen King book Juliette had picked for the book club was Carrie, which is about a girl with telekinetic powers that got stronger as she got older. This may be a reference/connection to Walt and the powers the Others took him for and tested.
When the plane broke apart in the sky, and the Others ran out of Juliette's house, some of them started to talk about the "source", like they knew something was happening and just wondering what the cause was.

They all instantly looked up at the sky, all around, like they were expecting a plane crash.

Ethan was working under Juliet's house. Perhaps they were in a relationship.
Clear that Juliet was a mess before the book club, and then was snippy about picking a book that Ben didn't like. Looks like there is some tension between Juliet and Ben.
Seemed clear that the Others were not surprised when the earthquake happened during the book club, as they knew what to do when it happened. They did not appear surprised when they say the plane in the sky, NotHenry (Ben) clearly had a plan in place as soon as the plane blew up in the sky, like he has been waiting for something like the crash to happen.
The executive producers have acknowledged that there was more than one faction of the Others. There is the belief that there are 2 different factions, not just dissension among Ben's Others.

If Ben sent Goodwin to infiltrate the Tailes for a few days and "get a list", why were some of the Tailes taken their first night on the island?

Where does Rousseau fit into this all? Does she not know about the village of Others? or does she? She did hand Ben to the Losties, knowing he was an Other. Is she part of them? Does she work with them or against them?
I speculated (and then saw that others do as well) that the village may be the ? on the map in the hatch that Locke saw on the hatch door. http://lost.cubit.net/pics/2x17/blastDoorMapOverlay.jpg We initially thought that Locke and Eko found the ? on the map in episode 2-17 "?" but it ended up being the Pearl Hatch. The section on the map says "Designation Unknown. Purpose Unknown. Relation to D.I.H.G (Dharma Initiative Hanso Group) Unknown." Perhaps there is a "cloak" hiding the village from strangers or it is in a crater on the island that makes it difficult to find.
When Sawyer finally figured out how to get the fish biscuit, the boy in the other cage told him the bears figured it out in 2 hours. Did that cage hold the polar bear that we saw in the first season?
When Jack asked Juliet what the name of the hatch he was in was, she said "They called it Hydra.", not "it is called Hydra". which can imply that she is not part of the "them."
Some believe that Jack is not really underwater due to the way the water rushed in (or didn't rush in like it would have if he was truly underwater). Plus, in Sawyer's cage, there was a pipe with the Hydra logo on it, which may mean them telling Jack he was underwater may be a mental game. It definitely implies that Jack and Sawyer are at the same hatch (a zoological hatch).

The info on Jack that Juliet claimed to have gotten could be from outside world contact, like she implied, or perhaps it came from drugging Jack and getting info out of him., or maybe from Kate, who looked very guilty (and hurt with the raw wounds near the handcuffs), who may have given up the info if tortured (perhaps her and Jack talked about things like that "behind the scenes" that we didn't see), since she was put in the cage near Sawyer before Juliet talked with Jack about the information. Or perhaps the info was found and collected from the plane (he had his doctor's badge on the plane). Or perhaps it was from memories plucked from his mind by the smoke monster that the Others may control.
The escapes in the hatch (Sawyer and the boy, Jack and Juliet), were they staged, both of them? just the one outside?
Have heard that the first 6 weeks of the show will be its own separate storyline, like a miniseries almost (perhaps it will the rough 2 weeks Ben told Kate she has ahead of her or perhaps it will be resolution of the captured Losties).

Easter Egg:

When Jack was following his ex-wife, there was a shot of a finished crossword puzzle. Some of the clues filled in were odd words that may be connected back to the show, like Necessary Evils, Vital Statistics, Raft, Heroes and Essential Fallacy. Sayid's plan to find Kate and Jack puts Sun and Jin's lives in grave danger. Meanwhile, Kate and Sawyer are forced to work in harsh conditions by their captors. NotHenry (Ben) makes an offer to Jack that is difficult to refuse.

This season:

We'll learn how/why Locke got in the wheelchair this season
Will learn about Jack's tattoos
We will get back to Michael and Walt's story, but not for a while.
2 people close to Sun will die this season (but they are close in different ways)
Sun has dream of the future, which features her 9 year-old daughter.
We will not learn who the father of Sun's baby is until the season finale.
Kiss in season promo commercial is not quite what it seems (Kate and Sawyer kiss), but there will be another kiss during the season.
We will see Sawyer as a bona fide wuss, but for good reason.

Also learn a secret that he has an entire different role in life than we, and he, ever knew.

New character this season: Colleen, in her late 30s, tough, obvious has some military training who doesn't flinch when a gun gets put in her face, trusts few on the island and only let's herself be emotionally vulnerable in front of her significant other.
Actor Nathan Fillion, of "Firefly" tv series and Serenity, the movie, will be making an appearance this season as Kate's ex-husband.
There is more than 1 faction of Others on the island.

2-23: "Live Together, Die Alone" 2006.05.24

Joe/Kelvin Inman: the man who dragged Desmond into the hatch is the same man who Sayid met in the Persian Gulf War. In that episode, his name was Joe Inman, while in the finale, his name was Kelvin. This was done only because the show did not want to give it away that they were the same people before the show aired.
Statue of the leg/foot that Sayid, Sun and Jin saw as they sailed around the island had 4 toes. One reason it was on the island was to remind both the Losties and the viewers that people were on this island well before DHARMA, the Others and the Losties (I believe that is called perspective, folks).
Boat that Michael and Walt went away in was at the dock called Palla Ferry, which is where the people in the Pearl hatch were told to go to get Ferry back to their barracks.The Others did not appear to freak out like the Losties did when the blinding white light occurred (when the button was not pressed), which implies they have seen it before or knew what it was.

NotHenry did not want Locke to press the button. Perhaps NotHenry was the one who triggered the blast doors to go down in "Lockdown" so that Locke would see the map, and find the Pearl Hatch, which is what caused Locke to doubt the power of the button and to stop pushing it.

Penelope = Desmond's girlfriend who has been searching for him for 3 years now. Penelope = GF of mythical Ulysses, and waiting 26 years for his return home.
The plane looking for Desmond that Penelope was in contact with, and Penelope herself, was the first proof of anything outside the island. This goes outside the "Snow globe" theory of the island.

Side note: not only is Penelope's father, Charles Widmore, played by an actor that was in the show The OC, the boat Desmond sails was from Newport Beach (The OC).

The guys in the plane or boat in the Artic: on their screen a number came up which equals the LOST numbers multiplied.
Things to think about:

If Desmond was not sent to replace Kelvin, and no one came to replace him or Desmond, where are the replacements?
Why did Kelvin wear the protective suit when Desmond landed on the island, but not when he was working on the boat? Was the "vaccine" fake? Is the "sickness" just a scare tactic?
Who was Kelvin making the DHARMA hatch map for and how did he know all of the hatches and notes he drew? Did he create it or just continue it?
If Desmond knew what happened when the button wasn't pressed (the magnetic stuff), why did he let Locke stop Eko from pressing it, and why didn't he warn Locke?
What is up with Charlie not telling anyone that Eko, Locke and Desmond are probably dead?
Will Walt and Michael actually be able to sail away from the island?
Does the 4-footed statue have anything to do with anything?
How spooky was the seeing all the tubes of notebooks from the Pearl Hatch. Were they always supposed to just be left there, untouched? If not, what happened to the people who were supposed to gather and read them?
Why the hell did Libby give Desmond her boat? What is her freaky connection to everything?

LOST EXPERIENCE:

I am not following this anymore, as I went away on vacation for 3 days in June and was instantly so behind that I just couldn't keep up. Some things I have heard related to it though.

The Black Rock, the ship that was crashed in the (seemingly) middle of the island where the dynamite was found that was used to blow open the hatch doors, was captained by Magnus Hanso, grandfather of Alvar Hanso, creator of the Hanso Foundation, which supports DHARMA.
The numbers (4,8,15,16,23,42) are the core numbers of the Valenzeti Equation, a formula solved by Gary Troup (writer of the "Bad Twin", supposedly killed in the Oceanic 815 crash).

This equation predicts the end of the human race.
DHARMA was created to manipulate the numbers to ensure the survival of the human race.

Walt and Michael will be listed as guest stars during the credits in Season 3, as they were in Season 2.

Episode 2-22: "3 Minutes"

There is not too much to talk about regarding this last episode. We got confirmation that Michael was lying, and that he did what he did because the Others told him to get Hurley, Kate, Sawyer and Jack. (I think we all probably suspected the Others had some hold on him).

New things we learned:

Michael did not lie about everything:

It is being guarded by 2 gunmen.
The Others (that he saw) are living in tents.

The Others know Walt is special and are "testing" him, I assume down in the new hatch.
Rousseau's daughter Alex continues to be "different" than the Others and tries to be nice to Michael.
Eko and Locke have basically switched places. Eko has put all his faith in the hatch and entering the numbers, while Locke has lost his faith.
Though Charlie has kicked his heroin habit, he can not see the medicinal value of giving the heroin to Jack. (and he can't throw well)

Things we already knew:

As Walt said, the Others are not what they seem.
Walt has special powers.
Michael is obsessed with getting Walt back and will kill to get him back.
Communication sucks between the Losties, as shown once again when Sun asked Kate who died, Kate told her and that was the end of the conversation!

Things to think about:

Why Hurley, Sawyer, Kate and Jack, what do they have in common? Are they all leaders, all saw visions (but Charlie and Eko have as well)? why were they not taken before. They had Kate, but gave her back to them. How did they get everyone's first and last name, especially Sawyer, since only Locke and Hurley (from the manifest) knew his real name.
How can no one but Sayid see that Michael is acting weird and LYING?
Has the hatch always been dripping? Perhaps, it's nothing at all, but...when Eko walks in and startles Charlie, he steps past what looks like a puddle. Then, the camera pans up for a moment onto the ceiling of the doorway and it's rusty red. I don't recall anyone getting shot upwards, so is a pipe leaking or is something up there?

LOST EXPERIENCE:

The Hanso Foundation ran their ad again near the end of the show. This time, the website they listed was www.letyourcompassguideyou.com.

I have no spoilers this week, mostly because I gave you them in the last 2 write-ups. I also did not want to learn anymore about the finale so I refused to look at anything new. This is a site sponsored by Sprite and is part of the Lost Experience (see below). 6 TV screens appear, and you must click each screen a number of times (4,8,15,16,23,42). It then brings you to a page with a tv screen showing the words Heir Apparent. click on the hidden link that brings you to the executive bio page on the Hanso foundation website, and go to Dr. Thomas Mittelwork's page. A text box appears in which you enter this password.

When Eko speaks to Locke after seeing the marking in the earth, he says "I believe they made a circle-a target-so it can be seen from above."

Perhaps every station, like the Swan, has its own Pearl station for observation. I would go so far as to say, I may believe this. Only one television came on that showed the Swan, and it was the kitchen camera. Perhaps the other television sets were for other cameras in that hatch. Why would the observers only watch the kitchen, and not the room with the button or anywhere else?
Also, on the blast door map: http://lost.cubit.net/pics/2x17/blastDoorMapOverlay.jpg on the right around 3 or 4 pm, it says "the pearl?". it also says "High Potential for R.V.S. Facility" (R.V.S. may stand for Remote Viewing Station). Lastly, it says "Interference might also prevent location from use as listening station" This is not near the ? on the blast door map.

The printout from the computer in the Pearl Hatch is some of the numbers plus some time stamp. The math around the different listings have been the topic of much debate. It appears to be every 108 minutes, like you'd expect, but I'm not 100% sure. Plus, that doesn't make a lot of sense since the button can be pushed with 5 minutes or so left on the timer. According to the official Lost podcast, one of the executive producers said this printout is important in the future. perhaps Locke can figure out if NotHenry actually pushed the button. The executive producer also claims that the cigarette on the tray in the Pearl hatch is lit, but I can't really tell. Obviously if it is lit, it means that someone was there very very recently. http://lost.cubit.net/pics/2x21/tray.jpg
Dr. Candle had two real hands in tonight's orientation, as opposed to one real, one fake in the Swan Station orientation. Also, his name was Mr. Candle in the Swan Orientation film and Mr. Wickman in the Pearl film. Dr. Candle says "At the end of your 8 hour shift, proceed to the Pala ferry which will take you back to the barracks." The use of barracks has an underlying sense of military. There is also the military knife that Ana Lucia took from Goodwin, the military-like shirt that "Zeke" was wearing when the Losties first met him, and the people doing jumping jacks in this orientation video when Karen DeGroot was shown.

Psychic was Claire's psychic. He claims to be a fraud to Eko, but seemed to be genuine when dealing with Claire. Not quite clear on the timing of the two separate events. There is speculation that he is connected somehow to Dharma or Hanso.

Perhaps his daughter died, and in exchange for her life back, Hanso/Dharma (with their life-extension program) coerced him into making sure Claire got on the plane.

Was it a coincidence that in Eko's back story, a girl died and came back to life...and then Libby died?

Eko and Bernard are the only 2 Tailies left on the island (that we know of, who knows where Cindy is). So, going with the Good/Bad thread that NotHenry and the Others speak of, did they take all the good ones at the beginning, and the Bad ones are dead (including Ana Lucia and Libby). and if so, what does that mean for and about Bernard and Eko?
One of the subtle little effects of this episode -- when Eko follows his brother Yemi from the campsite to climb the cliff, Eko has a slight limp. It means that Locke was following Yemi and it was his limp, in Eko's body, in the dream. How cool is that?!?

It is either an alias, or Eko is not using his real name on the island, like Sawyer.

Bad Twin: I am reading this book daily, between listening to podcasts about the show. There are some interesting references to things in Lost, but nothing just yet that is related directly to the current happenings on the show. This book is closely connected to the Lost Experience, with the Hanso Foundation taking out paid ads in newspapers around the country, like the Boston Globle, speaking out about the book since they are not shown in the most flattering light in the book. There is also an interview with the author before the plane crash (obviously), that is broken into 9 different pieces. 4 pieces have been found (somehow) on the Barnes and Noble website and Amazon.com. Episode 2-22: 3 Minutes is Michael-centric.

the ABC description: Michael convinces Jack and other Losties to rescue Walt while Charlie struggles with Eko's decision to stop building the church.

Michael's flashbacks are going to be about the time he has been away from the Losties, similar to Clarie, and we will see why he is not the guy he was before he left them.
Apparently Walt will be back in Season 3, and his growth (the actor is hitting puberty) will somehow be explained.

all the spoilers about the season finale that I listed last write-up have been verified through a call sheet.

Desmond returns in the finale-it may be his flashback, either from before the island, while he's been free on the island since the Losties took over the hatch, or maybe both.
Libby shows up again in connection to Desmond, apparently lending him her boat.
Desmond gets bailed out of jail by Widmore Corporation.

At some point, one of the episodes will focus on Jack and his tattoos. They are actually Matthew Fox's tattoos in real life, but are going to be incorporated into the story, since a great spinal surgeon and tattoos don't really match up without some back story.

There was not too much to this episode. It was more a character-building episode so there is not a lot to touch on.
Now we know that Rose knows Locke's secret. And that she too, appears to have been healed by the island, like Locke and Jin.

2-20: "Two For the Road" 2006.05.03:

Many people online found this episode dull up until the last 3 minutes. I personally enjoyed it.
So now we have another connection to Jack's dad; Ana Lucia along with Locke and Sawyer. There was also the split section connection of Sawyer running into the car door when Ana Lucia and Jack's dad were arguing in front of the bar in Australia. Jack's dad is already in the bar when Sawyer met him in the past flashback, so it seems as though this "meeting" may have happened just before the two of them met in the bar.
About the nicknames Jack's dad and Ana Lucia picked for each other: Sarah (jack's dad's name for A-L) = Jack's ex-wife's name. this may bring us back to the theory that she was having an affair with Jack's dad. Thomas = Claire's ex-boyfriend's name (Aaron's father, the artist) as well as Kate's ex who she got killed in the car and whose toy plane she went back for, as well as Tommy = Charlie's drug dealer in London.
There is speculation that the daughter that Jack's dad was trying to see when he was drunk at the house in Australia was Claire. There is no proof to this other than Claire's ex-boyfriend saying she had "daddy issues".
Michael: Jack, Kate and Locke should have noticed that Michael returned without his gun, and possibly in different clothes than he left in. His story didn't make sense since we know that "Zeke" and his crew faked their ruggedness. We also know that they have more than 2 guns and are not just women and kids.

Speculation has it that Michael is either brainwashed and now an Other, down with the "sickness" and going mad, or being blackmailed or manipulated by the Others to get Walt back.
He didn't seem really sorry to shoot Ana-Lucia, but genuinely shocked and scared about shooting Libby. Perhaps A-L was on the "bad" people list, since she killed 2 of the Others, as NotHenry (Fenry) mentions, so it was fine that Michael killed her.
Some believe that when Michael went in to where NotHenry was, NotHenry did not appear surprised to see him, even though he had to hear the gunshots. There was a bit of time when Michael was missing before NotHenry got caught by Roussou, so they may have met. And/or perhaps when NotHenry supposedly typed in the numbers (or didn't, if he was telling the truth), he actually communicated with his people over the computer, since we have seen communication happen on that computer before, and requested some sort of backup. Michael was then sent since the Losties know him and that would make it easier for him to infiltrate.

Speaking of NotHenry, it appears as though he is definitely connected to Goodwin, since he knew A-L killed Goodwin and the woman on the beach. He also mentioned the "LIST" and the "MAN" so it sounds like he knows "Zeke" and that crew. This implies there is actually only one group of Others, though there has been talk of there being 2 separate groups.

If there are 2 groups, one can be the Others from the Tailes end of the island, who are actually barefoot and not armed, while the other group may be Dharma scientists who dress up like the barefoot Others so that the Losties and others don't know there are scientists on the island.

Other Lost things:

The creators of Lost have created a game called The Lost Experience. The much talked about book Bad Twin, supposedly written by someone killed on the Oceanic 815 flight from Sydney to Los Angeles, has hit the stands. In the note from the editors of the book, it says that the author, Gary Troup was smitten with an Oceanic flight attendant named Cindy Chandler. This must have been the flight attendant Cindy who we initially met with the other Tailies, who then disappeared right before A-L shot Shannon.

This week's episode is called ? and is a Mr. Eko flashback. Supposedly, Eko asks Locke for help on something he needs to do, and the tension between them (or their different beliefs in FAITH) rises. The ? refers to the middle circle on the map on the blast door of the hatch. According to the executive producers, there are a few things in the episode that we'll be saying, that is what the ? is for (i hope this means they will be answering some questions!)
Episode 22 will be a Michael flashback (maybe if we are in the past, we won't have to hear him say "I have to get my boy" over and over and over as much as we do when we are in the present day.
The final episode (I believe it is 2 hours), will be a Desmond flashback. I do not know if it will be a Desmond before the island or while on the islandflashback. Either way, we should get answers to some questions.

things people have heard: 1) Libby meets with Desmond for coffee in a flashback 2) Libby gives Desmond her boat. Either of these things may give credit to the theory that Libby is an Other.
Desmond supposedly ends up in jail and gets bailed out by Hanso or Widmore or someone like that.
Rumor has it that we will find out why these particular people are on the island. I'm not sure if it will be Dharma/Hanso related or not.

Episodes 2-18: "Dave"

Most people I spoke with really liked this Hurley-centric episode. This appears to be the consensus on boards and forums around the internet as well. This was more of a character building episode than an island information episode. The last episode, for me, was so crazy and packed; I preferred it to this one.

2-18: "Dave" 2006.04.05

Locke's dad said, "See you in the next life" before he stole Locke's kidney in Lockdown. And Desmond said it to Jack in the stadium in . And "Dave" said it to Hurley when he jumped off the cliff.
Another reference to Desmond quote in Lockdown: Desmond said to Locke in the season opener "Are you him?" Same thing that Helen (Locke's gf) said to Locke's dad when she met him in the motel.
In the Jin/Sun episode, Locke said to Ana Lucia something along the lines of "you are running like the devil is chasing you." Desmond said that to Jack in the stadium when they met.

Speculation: some believe that NotHenry Gale may actually be the big, bad guy that the Others are afraid of. This is like Kaizer Soze from the movie "Usual Suspects", or the Wizard from Wizard of Oz, which makes it potentially 2 connections to the Wizard of Oz (Henry Gale is the name of Dorthy's uncle, who flew a balloon).

Libby: how crazy?!?! (pun intended) Speculations: she was a clinical psychiatrist like she says, before or after she went crazy; she is still crazy and stalking Hurley; she has taken on the persona of one of her doctors; she is a compulsive liar. I do want to point out that she said she was a clinical psychiatrist when she helped Sawyer with his gunshot wound, I believe and Claire, with the hypnosis (both things which she did well).

Next Episode:

Rose and Bernard focused.
It is called SOS and apparently Rose is upset about Bernard wanting to build a SOS signal. Locke begins to question his faith in the island. Jack and Kate's romance lites up again as they go out to bargain with the Others.
After this episode, there is a 2 or 3 week break, then the final 5 episodes of the season. .

SUN and JIN back story

Here was not much here in terms of advancing the island. This was mostly a character building episode.
Back in Episode #12, Fire + Water, there was supposed to be an "easter egg" in the episode (I mentioned this in the last write up) that was a sign on a building in the skyline of London. The sign was to say Widmore Construction. The pregnancy test that Sawyer gave Sun was made by Widmore Labratories. I'm smelling a connection...
Something eerie: when Ana-Lucis was running, she went by Locke who said to her "you are running like the devil is chasing you." This is the same thing Desmond said to Jack when he was running in the stadium during the first episode of the second season (Man of Science, Man of Faith).
It is (perhaps obviously) Sun pregnant with Jin's baby (and Jin's fertility problem perhaps is now "fixed" like Locke's legs are now"fixed") or her English tutor's (aka, guy she was on a date with the day she met Jin) baby.

RANDOM THINGS/CONNECTIONS

The woman Locke did a home inspection for was Nadia, Sayid's love (the one in the Iraqi prison in episode 9 of the first season Solitary).

Clarification: there was some confusion online about the Henry Gale balloon that Ana-Lucia, Charlie and Sayid found, and the parachute with the Dharma food that Jack and Kate found. They are not the same thing. The balloon in the tree was very far from the Lostie camp and was a hot air ballon. Jack and Kate saw the blinking light in the woods, which ended up being attached to a supply of food with the Dharma logo (at least Dharma mac & cheese) and a parachute. The balloon and parachute are not connected in any way (at this point at least).

SPECULATIONS/THEORIES:

Locke's dad is the real Sawyer (conned Lostie Sawyer's folks, causing their deaths) and that when he left Locke at the motel, he flew to Australia, where Lostie Sawyer followed him to kill him. Timeline on this is not clear though.
Some believe that Helen may have been in on the con to get Locke to get the money for his dad. There was talk of her reaction to Locke's dad, and the way she was dressed at the motel, but I wasn't interested enough in this idea to really retain much.
The dead Henry Gale may be Rose's brother. Apparently she may have mentioned having a brother, but I don't know the validity of this.
The blast doors coming down is connected to Dharma food drop. According to Desmond and the Orientation fil, usually there should be 2 people in the hatch so one should not be locked in where Locke was. I could not find a translation of what the speaker was saying when it was all full of static, but I did go back to my Tivo and put on the closed caption. There was a definite countdown, so if it had been clearer to hear, the people or person in the hatch could have gotten to the computer area if they needed to. There was tons of speculation on this topic. Some ideas:

One person is to stay locked in the hatch while the other goes and gets the food from where it appears. Remember, the button pushers were told they were safe in the hatch from whatever caused the quarintine. If one stays behind, they won't get sick.
if the Dharma food came from plane from above, the Losties would have heard the plane. Perhaps the food comes from below or underground and the blast doors lock so that people inside cannot "explore".
Since we nkow that different hatches have different Dharma signs (the Tailes had found the Arrow hatch), and the Dharma mac & cheese had the Swan symbol (our Losties are in the Swan hatch), perhaps there are or used to be drops at other hatches around the island, and they were designated by the symbol on the food.
There was crazy talk about magnetic force fields that the blast doors may trigger, but it was so conveluded i can't even begin to touch on it here.
Also, the count down for the button got to the point of where the hieroglphics started again (you can hear them go if you listen to that scene again. Perhaps the Fake Henry Gale did not hit the numbers in on time, and that is why the black light came on.

Questions around the Fake Henry Gale (such a great actor, totally freaking me out!!!): has he been in the hatch before? He needed to be told the numbers to enter only once, and he remembered them so quickly. How many of you remember them if I were to ask you right now? Is he an Other like Ethan and "Zeke" or like Goodwin (assuming they are from 2 different camps). Did he really push the buttons on the computer? Since we never saw him do it, perhaps he didn't, or perhaps he pressed something else on the computer to open the blast doors, because he knows more than he is letting on about the hatch.

A few things to notice about the map, which is in the shape of the Dharma logo:

There are 2 different handwriting styles, cursive and all capitals, implying that 2 different people put together the map.
some of the hatches are drawn with solid lines and others with dotted lines. The dotted hatches are probably speculation hatches, while the solid ones are confirmed. there is also a dotted hatch crossed out.
all the hatches have blocked off corridors leading to the middle dotted circle with a question mark in the center. Potential spoiler: Supposedly, the final episode of season 2 is entitled ?, which may answer the question about the ? in the middle of this map.
The Swan hatch (where our Losties are) is located at 6 o'clock on the map. The Arrow hatch (where the Tailes had been) is located at 12 o'clock. The Staff hatch appears to be the medical hatch that Claire found/was taken (located at 8-9 o'clock).
The top of the map is cut off due to the door not being all the way down (remember, it was crushing Locke's legs) so there may be more notes on the top.
Perhaps whoever did the map knows a way to bring down the blast doors and turn on the black light on purpose, and for longer periods of time. More time would be needed to work on the map.

Hello Lost fans,

Another Lost write-up very long and overdue. and sadly, it will be quite lacking. I had to take a break for a while due to a broken IPod, and once that got fixed, I just never took notes. SO, initially, I thought that this episode was going to be focused primarily on the most recent episode from Wednesday, March 1st, "Maternity Leave."

I thought this was a fantastic episode, perhaps one of my favorite. I actually read over 40 pages of comments on it, and watched it twice from beginning to end. However, I ended up going over the last 5 episodes (some deeper than others).

The Hunting Party #11 ( Recap: Michael leaves to find Walt, Sawyer, Jack and Locke follow. Meet up with "Zeke" who has Kate. The flashbacks are of Jack and his issues with his wife)-I may have already touched on this episode, I've lost track as to how many episodes its been. So just some quick things:

Guns that "Zeke" has: old WWII looking guns.
"Zeke" calls out name, "ALEX", can it be Danielle Rousseau's daughter, taken from her 16 years ago?
"Zeke" quote Alvar Hanso, how does he know this speech that Alvar gave unless he knows him, was there or got some training of his?
Calls Jack, Locke and Sawyer by their names (actually used Sawyer's real name).

Fire + Water #12 (Recap: Charlie starts losing his mind about Claire's baby, as Claire finds out about his statues of heroin and refuses to let him near the baby. The flashbacks are of Charlie, his brother, the fall of his band and abandonment of his brother)

This wasn't a big plot moving forward episode, except maybe to start pushing the survivors into different camps, with Charlie heading towards the dark side.

Symbols/Connections to past episodes: there was a stuffed polar bear in the "crib" that Charlie and his brother are singing in, during that terrible, even traumatic commercial they did in diapers. i didn't notice myself since I was closing my eyes (and covering my ears), yet the searing images of grown men with pacifiers and diapers continue to haunt my dreams!
According to the executive producers, there was a sign on one of the buildings in the cityscape of London during a scene. This sign ended up being too small to see on the final aired episode. They say it said Widmore Construction. Apparently, this company will have some connection to the Hanso Foundation (makers of the orientation film and supporters of the Dharma Initiative). Hopefully, stay tuned for more on this to come.

The Long Con #13 (Recap: Sawyer ends up conning the entire group of people out of the guns in storage by setting up Kate, Locke and even Sun, with the help of Charlie, not only pushing Charlie deeper to the dark side, but now "owning" Charlie for his actions. The flashbacks follow Sawyer in the mid-west (i believe) conning a woman he maybe fell in love with).

Storyline follows a movie called "House of Games", but stops short in the last scene. In the movie, after the woman gets conned, she then seeks revenge on the guy who conned her. Perhaps Sawyer's woman Cassidy has played out revenge as well, and is involved in getting him to Australia or or even on Oceanic flight...perhaps this storyline is not finished yet. Connection between Sawyer and Kate: While at the diner Sawyer and the scammer he was working with ate at, Kate's mother was their waitress.
Sawyer has a connection to a lot of people: Jack's dad (met him at a bar in Australia), Boone (was being brought into police station in Australia when Boone was there to try to report that guy he thought was abusing his sister), Kate's mom (see above). More connections between characters mentioned below.
One speculation about Sawyer taking the guns: to shift balance of power within group. Before this, Locke and Jack balanced each other out. Now there is a 3rd player with no balance. Does this throw off the group?
The radio that Sayid and Hurley listen to, which came from the Tailies hatch: it's a short wave radio, which means it can get radio waves very far away. therefore, it doesn't help pinpoint where the Losties are located. The radio call letters may be WXR, an old Coast Guard radio station in Alaska back in 1945. The moonlight serenade playing was popular in WWII. May be a theme here (remember the Other's gun was also from WWII).

One of Them #14 (Recap: Danielle Rousseau captures someone she believes to be an Other and delivers him to Sayid, who proceeds to keep him hostage in the Hatch and torture him. The flashbacks are to when Sayid was in the first Gulf War, and his transition into becoming a torturer)

Connection between Sayid and Kate: one of the US army general (who Sayid first spoke with when he was captured, and then asked Sayid if he had a family while they were riding on the convoy together was Kate's dad. He was holding a picture of Kate in his hands (it was actually a photo provided by Evangeline Lilly, of herself at age 13) Also saw Sayid's picture up in Kate's dad's military office in the episode when Kate kills her step dad.
When the US General (or whatever) shows Sayid the video of his village being poisoned, there are some numbers in the bottom right corners (part of the 4-15-16-23-42 chain).
Man Rousseau found says his name is Henry Gale. This is also the name of Dorothy (Gale) from the Wizard of Oz's uncle. In one of the Wizard of Oz books (perhaps Return to Oz), Dorothy tries to return to Kansas with the Wizard in a hot air balloon. Maternity Leave #15
Crazy things:

Song played Airplane Mobile in crib: It was Catch a Falling Star, it was the song that Claire asked the couple to sing to the baby when she was in the lawyers office about to give up her baby for adoption.
The mobile in the nursery was the same one on the crib in Claire's flashback in a past episode before she was kidnapped.
Both of these things came BEFORE the kidnapping. Perhaps someone is psychic?
It has been mentioned before, but the woman Claire was going to give her baby to looks just like the woman in Desmond's picture in the hatch, and like one of the women on the raft that stole Walt, but with different color hair.
The airplanes on mobile are Oceanic airplanes. 3 of them are pointing upwards, as they go around while one is pointing downward, like it is crashing.
It seems possible that the psychic Claire saw in Australia, who keep telling her she needed to keep her baby, may be somehow connected to Dharma. He was influential in not having an abortion, and getting her the money to take the plane to LA. Though he didn't want her to give away the baby, and that was her plan in LA, if he is/was connected to Dharma, then he may have known the plane was never going to make it to its destination.
Dharma logo on Ethan's canteen (when he gave it to Claire to drink from in the jungle, which she said tasted sour, so I think it was doped to drug her, since Ethan wouldn't drink from it) matches the logo on the shark at the beginning of the season. Ethan did come out of the water when they first saw him, perhaps there is an underwater hatch (there is that rope along the shore that goes into the ocean that Sayid found, perhaps this leads to it?)
So it seems a long-standing question has been answered - how many groups of "others" are there. Now we know that Ethan, Zeke/Mr Friendly/Gorton's Fisherman, and Goodwin/the ones with the List and Dharma are all the same group.This became apparent when "Zeke" was talking to "Ethan" about the List.
"Zeke" beard is fake, and the clothes appear to be costumes. Why are the Others disguised? Perhaps Losties can recognize them? Do they work for Dharma? or are they just playing scientists? or are they past "subjects" for Dharma?
Continues to be many similarities to Stephen King's book "The Stand", with good vs evil, a sickness that kills most of the population, etc. Also similar to his series "The Gunslinger. When Locke gives Henry Gale the book in his make-shift holding cell, Henry says, "What, no Stephen King?".
There is a little side door in the hallway of the medical hatch. http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=980&pos=352 What is it for? there does not appear to be one in the Losties hatch. And I believe that when Claire, Kate and Danielle return to this hatch, the escape hatch decals are no longer above the door.
Apparently, the hatch (Arrow Hatch) that the Tailies had found is not 1 of the 6 hatches that are spoken about on the Hanso Foundation Orientation film. This medical hatch may also not be one of the 6. This still leaves 5 other hatches on the island.
Could be that Henry Gale has extra super hearing, not that the walls are thin in the hatch. Remember when Sayid was in there torturing Henry, Jack and Locke couldn't hear what was going on, and Sayid wasn't being at all quiet. Jack actually had to ask Locke what was going on. Some believe that Ethan had super strength, so if Henry is an Other like Ethan, then his hearing may be above par.
Question: what is Eko building with all the trees (and the needing of the saw). Most speculation: A Church

Speculation that Libby is not the shrink she claims to be...being able to set a leg, and do hypnotherapy...some believe she is other or was patient in mental hospital, perhaps same one as Hurley (Hurley couldn't have stepped on her foot when getting on the plane, since he was in the front of the plane and she was supposedly in the tail section.
Executive Producers have stated that DHARMA is an acronym, though they would not say what it stands for.
Apparently, 2 people on the raft that stole Walt were twins. Perhaps there is some genetic experimentation stuff going on with Dharma?
A lot of talk about the island has been how this is every one's 2nd chance to be better people, and not make the same mistakes they had made. But as the time goes on, we see people going back to who they were before the island. Kate has secrets, Charlie goes back to lying and possibly drugs, Sawyer is now back to conning after a little run of being a nice guy, Jack is back to fixing people but kind of controlling and judgemental about it all, and Locke is going back to being angry (remember his anger management classes) and not in control as he wants to be. Mr. Eko had a moment of regression when he killed the Others the night of the crash, but has been working on repenting ever since. The Others claim to only take "good" people, and they have not tried to take anyone from the original group since they took Claire, and they haven't taken any of the Tailies since Cindy when the Tailies met up with the original group.
There is all this talk of the "sickness" by both Danielle and Ethan. Some believe there is no sickness. Either it is something to scare people, or perhaps Danielle actually has the sickness and killed all of her companions because of it. It is unclear if it is a physical or mental sickness.
The books mentioned or shown in almost every episode (for example, Sawyer was reading Lancelot in "Maternity Leave", seems to have a connection in some way to something, even if its only remotely, obscurely or just as a good read or perhaps inspiration to the writers/producers of the show. I do not go into it at all, mostly because i just don't remember all the detail.

In the previews for the next episode, Sun asks Sawyer for a pregnancy test. Perhaps a little Moon is on the way?

During the official Lost podcast by the executive producers imply that Henry Gale may actually be exactly who he says he is.

The episode after Jin/Sun will be Hurley focused. The one after that will be Libby focused (finally!).

Cindy, the supposed stewardess from the flight that disappeared moments before Ana Lucia shot Shannon, supposedly will be making a return appearance, as, rumor has it, will Desmond.

There is no new episodes for a few weeks at least. Hopefully the next write-up will not be so long, because I will be writing more consistently. Please feel free to send me your thoughts/opinions/speculations and if you want me to include them in the next email, just say the word.
